Canary Islands. Review. Part One |
Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria

Climate
Canary Islands are located at 28 degrees N, slightly north of the Tropic. Therefore, the sun is always high in the zenith and the heats very well all year round. A short distance from Africa (Morocco, 100 km), almost no effect because of the frequent north-westerly winds and ocean currents.

The water temperature throughout the year about 20 degrees, so that you can swim, always, that many do. Even when the "official" temperature is much lower.

The sun is almost never hidden by clouds. Even in the worst weather, no more than one or two days.

Usually the best time to go to the beach - up to 12 hours of the day. If the weather is unstable, then the morning sun is most likely. If a strong cold wind, we can choose a secure side of the island or beach, or hide in the dunes, and this is enough.

Returning home burned and covered with salt, you can see the scoreboard at the beach 14 degrees, and on the TV to see "scary" local news about snow. The ocean defines the weather, and this must be considered.

Ocean
The main actor. If you like a quiet measured or glamorous vacation, then you have to constantly hide from him. Or on the balcony of the hotel, in a chaise lounge by the pool or in a restaurant / nightclub.

And both, on each island is enough for everyone. But why should this go to the Canary Islands?

Who devoured books on travel, on the first day provided shock experience. When the bend of the road there is a sudden sea. With the huge waves, the smell of iodine, or a mirror with turquoise water, where there is no wind.

And if this kind of right from the balcony of your hotel, then we can tolerate, and some cool in room ...

Mountains
All the islands are volcanic, so the mountains are on each island. If the more space on the island is mountainous, the less space remains for natural beaches. If the more the mountain, the more dark sand on the beaches and less white. Tenerife - a big mountain, Fuerteventura - plateau with hrebrom middle of the island, the largest sand dunes and the largest number of white sand beaches, Gran Canaria - the whole is covered by mountains, with few natural beaches around the island and the sand dunes in the south of Lanzarote - the acting volcano.

The more mountains - the more serpentine roads. It must be borne in mind if you are going to take a car.

Steppe
The whole north coast of Fuerteventura - a flat steppe with scattered here and there, free-standing mountains, volcanoes. A small stone from black to light yellow. Hot air rises over the stones, creating a a mirage. Bunches of vegetation. The trees are mainly planted by man. Gran Canaria - almost continuous accumulation of mountains.
